About the degree program
Study objective
What you can expect
Whether renewable energies, smart gadgets or revolutionary communication technologies - with a deep understanding of electrical engineering, you can play an active role in shaping the world of tomorrow. The Bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering aims to give you a broad understanding of electrical systems, technologies and applications, with a focus on the specializations Mechatronics, Automation Technology/Industry 4.0 and Smart Grids and Systems.
Our degree program not only offers you in-depth specialist knowledge and practical experience, but also the opportunity to give free rein to your creativity and develop solutions for the challenges of our time. Ready for the future? Then you've come to the right place! Be part of a generation that not only uses technology, but shapes it.
KIA is adual degree programwith a Bachelor's degree after four years -with integrated vocational training(including IHK/HWK qualification). It combinestheory and practice very intensively and creates an earlybond with the future company.
Our future KIA studentsapplyto acompany cooperating with the university, have theuniversity entrance qualification, havean interest in scientific problemsand have the necessarymobility.
The companies conclude acooperation agreement with the universityand contracts with the applicants for practical vocational training(vocational training contract or internship contract).
After concluding a training contract with the company, you still have to register at the university with your university entrance qualification - this is possible from mid-May.
The degree course usually begins on01.09.with 4 weeks of practical training in the company. Depending on the degree program, you will then complete one to threesemesters at the university.
Thestudy-free periodsbetween the semesters are reserved forpractical trainingin the company. The training in the company takes place during the basic studies according to the study schedule (e.g. in a 4-week rotation between the company and the university) and ends with theexamination before the responsible chamber (IHK or HWK). Separate vocational school lessons are not provided. The theoretical vocational knowledge required for the vocational training is taught through the scheduled lectures and additional "vocational specifics" courses at the university. During the practical training period, you will be entitled to the collectively agreed vacation and will receive amonthly salary from the company, which is based on the salary for apprentices.
After completing the vocational training, the remaining semesters are completed asfull-time studies with part-time work(often with a study sponsorship agreement from your company) and end with the desired Bachelor of Engineering degree. Building on the introductory semesters, the specialist studies begin, in which further specialization is made possible.
The following specializations are available:Mechatronics, Automation Technology/Industry 4.0 and Intelligent Networks and Systems.
